F.W. Madigan Company Wins 2026 Silver Hammer Award
June 1st, 2026
F.W. Madigan Company was honored to accept the 2026 Silver Hammer Award from the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce at the Business After Hours Ceremony on Thursday, May 28th. The award was presented for the Residences at Lincoln Square, a project delivered in partnership with Winn Companies. This recognition reflects work that the entire Madigan team is proud to stand behind.
About the Silver Hammer Award
Presented annually by the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Silver Hammer Award recognizes construction and rehabilitation projects that have an extraordinary visual and aesthetic impact on the physical landscape of the region. The award is reserved for projects that breathe new life into some of Worcester’s most historic assets, setting a high bar for craftsmanship, design, and community impact.
The Project
The Residences at Lincoln Square is a two-building development that involved the historic preservation and full renovation of the 59,000 square foot former Worcester Boys Club, a landmark structure that has anchored Lincoln Square for generations. The scope required careful attention to the building’s historic character while modernizing it for a new generation of residents.
Alongside the renovation, Madigan constructed a new five-story, 63,000 square foot building connected directly to the original structure. Adding to the complexity of the project, a portion of the new building was constructed over the Ernest A. Johnson Tunnel, requiring precise coordination and engineering throughout.
Together, the two buildings deliver 80 affordable homes for adults aged 55 and older, with a mix of studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units. Each unit was designed with the amenities of modern urban living. Residents have access to shared spaces including an exercise room, multipurpose room, mail room, garage, and two patios.
Built by the Right People
Projects like this do not happen without a team that holds a high standard from the first day to the last. Congratulations to everyone on the Madigan and Winn teams who built this project from the ground up.
