Hanover Theatre Conservatory

Location: Worcester, MA

Madigan was the Construction Manager on this renovation of approximately 6,000 sf of space attached to the Hanover Theatre.  The challenge presented to us was to transform shell space into a Conservatory for the Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts.  The project involved demolition of existing partitions, providing added structural support/framing to an existing wood framed structure, and building out 3 studios, a practice room, new bathrooms, and prepping an area for a future café.  Work included a new storefront entrance at the building’s front facade and an emergency egress at the back of the building.  The studio spaces received a sprung floor with a special dance surface.  This work was completed and coordinated successfully in an otherwise fully occupied building, with classes for young students occupying the basement below.  The project came in under budget, and the Theatre realized shared savings at the completion of the project.
